{utterly pink + grey}

Here's another big post! It's dedicated to my favorite colour combination - Raspberry Pink + Grey. Yes, it really is great. The film Bright Star is one of the very best sources for this palette, and they have mixed in moody indigos and old whites to make it a truly sumptuous feast for the eyes. Another theme that helped me to edit my many many images for this file was the contrast of coarse textures layered against smooth walls and taught upholstery, another favorite! Below are two sofas - one championing grey in all its many shades, and the other PINK in it's most linen-y best. I simply can't choose which I love best...

I love the stripped window frames and honed pink render. Truly lovely.

{black + metallics}

The Penguin F. Scott Fitzgerald Collection designed by Coralie Bickford-Smith is utterly delectable. Bickford-Smith is also the creator for the very popular clothbound Penguin classics series. They change the whole experience of reading these beloved novels and prove that a Kindle or electronic book cannot compete with the real thing. At least, I don't think so! The smell of freshly printed pages on yellowed paper, the texture of shiny metallic foils and printed cotton is unique and should not be missed!

{things i heart}

Happy New Year!
It's 2011 and I have a thousand new years resolutions that I will undoubtedly have forgotten by the time 2012 looms. One of them is to get organized... the folks at Lonny Magazine {where many of these images have been gleaned} believe whole-heartedly in trays {above}. They're probably right, but what i've come away with is a unhealthy adoration of {fake} tortoiseshell sunglasses! Anyhow, here are some fun, bright mid-century inspired images to muse upon...

{backgrounds}

Here's a little bit about my background, and where my love for beautiful homes and making things stems from. My great great grandparents were painters, and they didn't contain their work to the canvas. It flowed out of the frame and all over their home, creating a bright and stimulating place to raise a family of lovers, friends and children. I think their work - which was in the homes of my mother, grandmother and great-grandmothers - filtered into my creative subconcious from an early age, and only much later did I begin to see the parallels. They even created theatre costumes! Their home, Charleston Farmhouse, is now open to the public and is well worth a visit or three.

{things i heart}

A little colour story for your delectation. I adore saturated reds, pinks and cyan together, sharpened up by crisp white. This post is also here to announce a weekly theme entitle *Things I Heart*. Images that float around in my collection that defy categorization, and yet stimulate and move me. So now they have their place, right here. In my heart. Awww.
Other than that, there aren't too many links between the subjects, thought I've noticed there are many nature-inspired prints and patterns that I find dizzyingly delicious.
Hope you enjoy this moodboard of sorts!
